Several rebuilding projects have been implemented during the current year in most governorates

Several projects have been completed and others are still under completion funded by the budget allocated for reconstruction for the year 2020, amounting to 25 billion Syrian pounds, which was approved within the ministries ’emergency plan.

The Deputy Minister of Local Administration and Environment Eng. Moataz Kattan stated that the aforementioned budget was distributed among the governorates according to need and priority for the approved projects and included various sectors.

In Damascus, the rebuilding of the classrooms, a textile laboratory and the scientific departments of the Textile Institute were completed, with a cost of 20 million Syrian pounds.

 

Barada River was depolluted, and sewage treatment plants were established in the Jamraya, Adra and Al-Hama regions at a cost of one billion and 841 million according to Kattan.

Other projects were also implemented within the emergency plan for the Governorate of Damascus such as rebuilidng  Al-Qadam Police Department at a cost of 25 million pounds, rebuilding of the Technical Institute for Technical Supervisors and the Vocational Training Center  in Damascus at a cost of 600 million pounds.

In the Governorate of Damascus Countryside, the projects implemented within the reconstruction budget for the current year included the rebuilding of the Al-Hajar Al-Aswad district, at a cost of more than 23 million pounds, and rebuilding works of the Harasta Military Hospital, at a value of 100 million pounds.

Kattan said that the city of Aleppo had the largest share of the reconstruction budget, as the Tourist School was rebuilt with a cost  of 40 million pounds, and the rebuilding works of the Office of Cotton with a cost 10.57 million pounds.

The works of the transmission tower in the Aleppo Transmitter Station in the Ansari district was completed at a cost of 70 million pounds in addition to works on the Oncology Hospital at a cost of 200 million pounds.

Two bridges of the irrigation canal on the Aleppo-Raqqa highway were rebuilt at a cost of more than 139 million pounds, in addition to the rebuilding of the Dar al-Assad House in the Seven Bahrat in Aleppo, at a value of 60 million pounds.

In Homs Governorate, Kattan said that the projects approved by the Governorate emergency plan, including rebuilding  and maintenance projects for the Technical Institute for Technical Supervisors and the Vocational Training Center at a cost of 500 million pounds, repairing damages in the buildings of the Vocational Training Centers at a value of 2 million pounds, and the rebuilding of  housing complex  in the neighborhood Bayada at a cost of more than 16.685 million pounds.

Other projects have been implemented in Idlib governorate, the most important of which are the rebuilding  of Fodder  Centers in Sinjar and Abu Dhuhur, at a cost of 15.760 million pounds, and projects to build the headquarters of the municipalities of Tal Al-Karam, Siraa and Abu Daly, at a cost of 180 million pounds, according to Kattan.

In Deir Al-Zor, Kattan said that the projects that have been implemented are the rebuilding of the Deir Ezzor Education Directorate, at a value of 245 million pounds, and the rebuilding of the first and second housing units in the university city at a cost of 301 million pounds.

The restoration of some buildings in the Nassib border post in the Governorate of Daraa was among the most important projects in it.

In the Governorates of Lattakia and Tartous, Kattan said that the implemented projects include  the rebuilding the old headquarter of the General Company for Building and Reconstruction to form a university college and a housing unit for female students in Tartous at a cost of 150 million pounds.

The finishing works of the martyr Ibrahim Naama Hospital in Jabla at a value of 800 million pounds and the treatment of the waste dump in Dalia municipality in Latakia, at a cost of 60 million pounds, and there are projects under implementation.

Many streets and roads were also built  for martyrs’ families to “reach their homes and  agricultural lands that are far from the highway” in the governorates of Lattakia, Tartous, Homs, Hama and As-Suwayda, with a value of 350 million pounds.

It is noteworthy that the aforementioned projects are among the most important projects that were financed within the ministries ’emergency plan from the reconstruction budget.
