Seventy Belgian Terrorists fight in Syria

BRUSSELS, (ST)_ Belgian Sources at the State Security Department said that there are  70 Belgians  fighting with  the armed terrorist groups in Syria.

” La Republic Belgique” newspaper quoted the sources as saying  that the “Belgians fighters” in Syria are not working with the  militia of the so-called “free army” but with other “hardline Salafi .” groups

The sources pointed out that these “fighters” are members of a recently dismantled militant cell called Sharia for Belgium that worked on recruiting young men and sending them to fight in many parts of the world  including Yemen ,Chechnya and Syria.

Security officials in the country fear that these terrorists will  return to Belgium  and use the gained  combat experience in disseminating  extremist ideas or participating in terrorist acts in Belgium or in other European countries.

 Member of the Belgian Parliament Dennis Dhikarm on Monday demanded the  Belgian government to punish those extremists  by activating the law already passed in 1979.
