Serbian and Emirati aid planes arrive at Damascus International Airport 

On March 2nd, aid plane from the Republic of Serbia arrived at Damascus International Airport, carrying 7 tons of medical tools, medicines, and relief materials for those affected by the earthquake.

Chargé d’ Affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Damascus, Marko Mujašević, affirmed in a statement to reporters the solidarity of the Republic of Serbia with the Syrian people.

He said that the delivery of aid today is evidence of the strength of solidarity between the two friendly countries.

He pointed out that the aid shipment is the first sent by the Serbian government, as the President of the Republic of Serbia, Alexander Vucic, decided to send 240 tons of humanitarian and relief aid in batches.

He added that the aid includes medical equipment and medicines valued at 1.3 million euros, and foodstuffs worth 878 thousand euros.

He said that humanitarian aid will be sent to Syria in batches in the coming period, in cooperation with the Serbian Red Cross, UNICEF and many humanitarian organizations, associations, companies and citizens.

He pointed out that on the second day of the earthquake, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Damascus collected 2.5 tons of emergency humanitarian aid and delivered it urgently to the Syrian Trust for Development’s Center in the city of Jableh.

An Emirati aid plane, loaded with 25 tons of foodstuffs and mineral water, also arrived today at Damascus International Airport.
