Senior US State Department official resigns in protest against the way the US administration deals with the Israeli aggression on Gaza

Washington, (ST) – The official in the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Immigration at the US State Department, Stacey Gilbert announced her resignation from her position, in protest against the way the American administration deals with the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip.

“The Washington Post” quoted American officials as saying: “In an email she sent to employees in her office, Gilbert expressed her view that the State Department was wrong in concluding that “Israel” had not obstructed humanitarian aid to Gaza, but the fact is the contrary, as the Israeli occupation forces were obstructing the arrival of aid to civilians in Gaza.

The officials indicated that Gilbert recently participated in the US administration’s discussions regarding Israel’s behavior in Gaza, and expressed dissatisfaction over the way it was dealing with Israel despite its continued violations and crimes against civilians.

Since the beginning of the aggression on Gaza, a number of US administration officials have resigned, including the Director of Public and Congressional Affairs in the Bureau of Political and Military Affairs at the State Department, Josh Paul as well as Anil Shellen from the Office of Human Rights at the State Department, and the Arabic-speaking spokeswoman for the State Department, Hala Gharit, in protest against the US administration’s supportive position towards the Israeli occupation entity.
