Damascus, (ST)- Head of the Syrian Exporters’ Federation (SEF) Mohammed al –Sawah and head of the Iraqi delegation of the General Federation of Peasants Associations Hassan Nassif Tamimi yesterday held talks focused on ways to develop agricultural exports between the two countries and promote mutual cooperation.
The two sides expressed the importance of activating trade exchange including various agricultural products to serve the two brotherly peoples calling on the need to resume work directly on the ground through signing memorandums of understanding that establish to joint action to promote the agricultural sector in the two countries.
Mr. al –Sawah stressed the importance of the Iraqi market for the Syrian product, pointing out that the GFE “will work in the coming period to overcome various difficulties facing the Syrian exporters in Iraq” to get back the movement of goods to normal in both directions.
For his part, Mr. al -Tamimi talked about the importance of this meeting, which aims to restore trade relations between the two sides, pointing out that the Iraqi delegation aspires to return the process of Syrian exports to Iraq and vice versa.
“We are working to the expansion of agricultural relations, hoping to sign the memorandums of understanding with the GFE,” he added.
He pointed out that Iraq is moving to the overall shift to the private sector for the advancement of the Iraqi economy away from the oil sector and we work to the advancement of the agricultural and industrial sector.
The meeting was attended by Secretary General of the Federation of Arab Peasants Khaled Khazaal, Vice -Chairman of the General Federation of Iraqi Peasants Associations, members of the executive Office and heads of unions in the Iraqi provinces
