SEF: Export to Russia a Real Opportunity to be Invested

Damascus, (ST) – Syrian Exporters Federation (SEF) began preparing for the investment opportunities provided by the Russian markets to the Syrian products, particularly citrus, fruits as well as food, clothing and some raw materials.

In a statement to local press, Head of the SEF, Mohammed Nasser al –Sawah, confirmed that the Federation and its branch in Lattakia witnessed meetings with suppliers to Russian markets. The suppliers also began putting lists of Syrian goods to be exported and started the processing of goods in preparation for shipment to Russia.

Mr. al –Sawah pointed to the great cooperation that started between the SEF, the Damascus Chamber of Industry and the Association of Exporters of Textiles in order to unify the visions and possibilities to ensure a successful business with Russia and overcome the difficulties, adding that the possibilities have become available in Syria regarding packaging, sorting, packing and commitment to quality and reliability standards.

“The export to Russia represents a real opportunity and to be invested, especially in light of current economic conditions and the blockade Syria is suffering,” he said.

Mr. al –Sawahd disclosed that a Syrian economic delegation to visit Russia in the near future in cooperation with the SEF and the Damascus Chamber of Industry and the visit will be as a serious attempt to discuss with Russian officials and businessmen issues of trade and investment opportunities.

He also called on the need to hold a new round of meetings of the Joint Technical Committee expecting that the Russian opportunity will  lead to investments and deals with hundreds millions of dollars.
