Security Forces raid ISIS hideout in east Aleppo

ALEPPO, MAY.17, (ST)-Today, Aleppo Security Directorate, in cooperation with the General Intelligence Service, raided a hideout in east Aleppo where an ISIS cell was holed up.

The operation resulted in the arrest of one ISIS member, while efforts are ongoing to pursue the remaining members, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency added that the clashes that erupted during the operation resulted in the martyrdom of a member of the General Security Forces.

A patrol was then able to storm the site and seize explosive devices, a suicide vest, and several General Security Forces uniforms that were in the possession of the ISIS cell.

Later on, state-runbAl-Thawra telegram channel quoted a security source as saying: “General Security arrested 4 ISIS members during the security operation, and the clashes resulted in the detonating of an explosive belt by the cell.

Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said at his speech in the Arab Summint in Baghdad that Syria faces several challenges, including the remnants of ISIS, which foreign powers are trying to use as a tool for political blackmail and security pressure. This is in addition to the covert plots to dismantle Syrian society and sow discord by supporting separatist groups, dragging the country into a protracted civil conflict,
