Security Council Renews UNDOF Mandate For Further Six Months

NEW YORK, (ST)- The Security Council has unanimously renewed the mandate of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in the Syrian Golan for further six months.

 In November 2016, the United Nations announced the return of a group of the UNDOF to their positions in Syria. In 2014, the international organization withdrew a number of UNDOF personnel from several positions after terrorists from Jabhat al-Nusra kidnapped more than 40 Fiji peacekeepers and besieged some Philippine others
