DAMASCUS, Aug.3, (ST)- The Russian Cultural Center in Damascus opened today a section for books in the Russian language in the Damascus Educational Library and an exhibition for children in which the children of the centers participated with their paintings entitled “Love for Russia”.

The advisor of the Russian Cultural Center in Syria, Ali Al-Ahmad, told the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA): “Because of the Syrian society’s passion for world literature in general and Russian literature in particular, we opened a section within the Damascus Educational Library that contains a collection of books from Russian literature, children’s books and textbooks.”

He indicated that this library will be part of a group of libraries in cooperation with the Ministries of Education and Culture.

“There is a program that will be implemented in  the governorates of Homs, Tartus and Deir Ezzour, in addition to another program related to open cultural centers to spread Russian culture,” Al-Ahmad said calling on those who are interested with literature to visit these cultural centers and benefit from the library’s services.

As for the exhibition entitled “Love for Russia”, the plastic artist and the supervisor of the Damascus Educational Library Mowaffaq Makhoul clarified that this activity is a greeting from the Syrian children to Russia for its stances towards Syria, noting that the exhibition included various  beautiful ideas made by children.

The exhibition includes a set of paintings of different sizes, drawn by children spontaneously using oil and water colors, all of which show symbols of hope and love.
