A Roman old secret crypt connecting the national museum and the sea shore was recently discovered, according to Lattakia archeology department.
It is expected that the crypt is connecting with other tunnels and there is possibility to discover hidden rooms inside, because it is well known that Roman engineers had developed the network of tunnels to pull water from mountain springs.
Lattakia’s national museum building is in a two floor old building in the Middle Western of the city along with the sea shore. The building consists of two floors, five holes and contains old eastern (Ras Shamra, Ugarit, Ras Ibn Hani, Tel Sukas), special classic, and Islamic ruins.
