Scores of Mislead individuals Turn themselves in

DAMASCUS COUNTRYSIDE, (ST) – Some army deserters plus scores of individuals who were misled have turned themselves into the authorities in Beit Sahm, Yelda and Bibila areas in Damascus Countryside to take advantage of amnesty which is  issued by a decree on October 29th.

“While the gunmen were turning themselves in, a terrorist group snuck into the town’s outskirts and opened fire randomly to prevent the gunmen from turning themselves in, but army units confronted them and left the attacking terrorists either dead or injured,”  reports a local media correspondent.

For his part, Samer Shabaneh, Head of Municipality, was quotes by a local media as saying  that there was a coordination and cooperation between army, concerned authorities and local committee that help making the 34 people turned themselves in,distributed as 22 of Biet Sahem,9 from Babela and 3 from Yelda.

” 300 people turned themselves in since the local committee began working in September,” said Shabaneh.

He also added that the recent amnesty decree encouraged many armed terroristsindividuals to abandon the groups affiliated to.Because of their realization of the sabotage to their homeland. pointing to the normal life they will have.

Ahmad Mohammad Shababiyeh, a person turned himself after  joining “Liwa’a al-Islam”  group, who experienced  the harsh practices made  by the armed terrorist groups  in his area threatening his family. He also ask every mislead person to left his arm and comeback home.

For his part, Sheikh Fa’eq al-Obaidi, Deputy secretary of the clan elders council, said that there were exerted efforts to make the initiative in Biet Sahem area as successful by rescuing 200 women and children who were held as hostages by terrorists in the three towns, adding that the initiative will continue until security and stability are restored to Syria by eliminating terrorism and combating the armed terrorists groups.
