DAMASCUS,(ST)-The competent authority seized eight stolen relics dating back to the 2nd century A.D in Palmyra (Homs countryside) .The stolen pieces were pillaged by terrorists from different archaeological sites in the city where they hid them in their dens in the area of Palmyra orchards in a bid to smuggle them outside the country.
Dr. Khalil Al- Hariri, curator of Palmyra museum was quoted on the official news agency reporter as saying:” The historical pieces comprise two-halve panels depicting two ladies from Palmyra wearing traditional costumes and Palmyra jewlery plus two statues of young men and three parts (a monk’s head and heads of two men),”
“the museum’s administration has received the said pieced officially where they were documented and registered ,”added Hariri.
Furthermore, the competent authorities regained some 34 archaeological pieces last April.
