SAWA Condemns Turkish Aggression on Syrian Territories

NEW York, (ST)- The Syrian American Will Association has condemned the flagrant Turkish aggression on the Syrian territories under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

SAWA’s condemnation was voiced as some of its members were visiting a number of Security Council delegations’ members including the Russian, Venezuelan, Japanese and Malaysian delegations.

The Association’s delegation, which was led by Khaldoun Makhoul and which included in its membership Suhail Saba, Fares Sabbagh, Richard Khouri  and Milad Lahham, pointed out that the aggression comes as the entire world has realized that the Turkish government is the party that supports and funds terrorists and facilitates their infiltration into Syria across the borders.

SAWA expressed resentment over the stance of  the UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura  who said that he was “deeply concerned” over  what he called “coercive displacement of the people of Darya city” ignoring, with cold blood, the Syrian government’s efforts to transfer those people to temporary houses built especially for the families which have been besieged by the terrorist groups for four years inside Daraya and  been  used them as human shields.

The Association’s delegation urged the Security Council members to pressure the countries, which have been imposing unfair and illegal unilateral economic sanctions on the Syrian people, to end the siege and lift these sanctions which worsened the Syrians’ suffering.

They also called on the Security Council to put pressure on Syria’s neighboring countries, which facilitate the terrorists’ entry into Syria with huge support and funding by the Saudi and Qatari regimes, to control their borders and halt the flow of terrorists into Syria.

Members of the delegation thanked Russia for its support for the Syrian state and people in the confrontation of global terrorism.
