ISLAMABAD,(ST)_Speaker of the People’s Assembly (PA) has said that there is no real international determination to combat the Takfiri terrorism which targets the Middle East region.
Mohammad Jehad al-Lahham has clarified that the international community is turning a blind eye to the acts of repressive regimes, such as the Saudi regime, that export the Takfiri Wahhabi thinking to Syria and the whole world as well.
“The Saudi regime arms and funds those who hold the Takfiri thinking and send them to damage the social fabric and to destroy the state’s infrastructure,” the Speaker said.
He underscored that Syria, whose people’s history is based on tolerance and co-existence, will achieve victory over the Wahabbi terrorism.
Al-Lahham added that Iran has stood by the Syrian people when some Arab regimes and leaders abandoned their Islamic and Arabism role and accepted to succumb to their US master.
His remark was made today as he had one-on-one meeting with Deputy Speaker of the Iranian Islamic Shoura Council Mohamed Hasan Abu Turabi Fard on the sideline of the 2nd meeting of the Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly.
According to the official news agency, the meeting dealt with Syrian-Iranian ties, situation in the Middle East region, and means of combating the international terrorism at the level of world and regional parliament.
‘Turning point’
The agency quoted Abu Turabi Fard as saying that the region has witnessed political shifts since Israel’s aggression on Lebanon in 2006 and the Lebanese resistance’s victory which was realized with the support of Iran and Syria.
“Today, the steadfastness of the Syrian government, people and army in the face of the international terrorist aggression, is a turning point in reshaping the new world multi-polar system,” he said.
The Iranian official reiterated his country’s support for Syria, noting that the US-led front which is fighting Syria will be defeated.
Its worthy to note that The 2nd meeting of the Executive Council of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly started today in Pakistan’s capital [Islamabad] where the participants discussed the Assembly’s role in combating terrorism, protecting cultural diversity in Asia, combating corruption, poverty and drug trafficking through enhancing communication between Asian parliaments and formulating legislations in this regard.
