Saudi medical team restores “hope” to more than 100 children through cochlear implants

Today, many free cochlear implant surgeries are being performed for dozens of children who have lost hope in hearing, at the initiative of the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Support.

According to the Director of Al-Mouwasat Hospital in Damascus Amin Abdul Latif Suleiman, it is planned within this initiative to perform 100 cochlear implant surgeries for children aged 3 to 5 years, with full support from the Saudi side, including equipment, costs and expertise from the Saudi medical team. He noted that the cost of one surgical operation is between 12-15 thousand US dollars.

Suleiman stated that 30 operating rooms have been allocated. In addition,  an entire floor was allocated to serve children.

Suleiman concluded that this initiative is a continuation of a previous program of initiatives to implant cochlear for Syrian children, noting that “we have more than five thousand children in need of cochlear implants”.

It is noteworthy that the King Salman Relief Center has provided major medical supplies, the latest of which is the ARC device for Al-Mouwasat Hospital.
