Sarkis underscores urgency of reducing industrial pollution

State Minister for Environment Affairs has underlined urgent need to reduce industrial pollution to protect environment, highly appreciating the steadfastness of workers and owners of industrial establishments to confront the unjust economic blockade imposed on Syria.

Nazira Sarkis’s remark came during her yesterday’s visit to the Industrial city in Adra area in Damascus countryside, to which Syrian army restored stability and peace in September 2014.

She was accompanied by Governor of Damascus countryside Hussien Makhlouf, who also praised the existence of workers and industrialists in the establishments to run production lines despite the circumstances the country is going through.

“The workers and industrialists run production lines to improve the national production and the Syrian industry,” said the governor.

On his part, the Industrial City’s Director Ziad Baddor indicated the importance of attracting more industrialists and artisans to work in the new establishments.

On January 20, the State Ministry for Environment Affairs draw up an environmental strategy to deal with the negative effects of the five-year-old war on the country.
