Prague (ST) – Slovak university professor Edward Khemilar affirmed that the continued imposition of unilateral coercive measures against Syria is inhuman. He added that these measures impede the arrival of aid to the Syrians affected by the devastating earthquake.
Khemilar posted on his Facebook webpage that the continuation of these sanctions is evidence of “the double standards of the Western countries”. He called for the European politicians to be reminded of these policies when talking about the importance of human rights and praise them for their protection.
For his part, Head of the Slovak Socialist Party, Artur Bekmatov affirmed that the failure of many European countries to help Syria in facing the repercussions of the earthquake ‘cauaes a sense of shame’. He indicated that these countries should have sent the people affected by the earthquake in Syria what they need in terms of food, medicine and children’s needs.
