‘Salute to Syrian cinema’ Festival kicks off

The activities of the ‘Salute to Syrian Cinema’ Festival kicked off Wednesday in Hasaka city, according to the official news agency (SANA).

The agency quoted Director of Hasaka cultural Center Mohammad al-Flaj as saying that ‘Mariam’ film directed by Basil al-Khatibwas screened in the first day of the festival, which will screen films produced by the national cinema organization in Syria.

“There were intensive cultural activities during the past period in the city of Hasaka,” al-Flaj added, indicating that the activities are being held in cooperation with local circles.

Many audiences in the activity underlined the need to increase the cultural activities and to go ahead with screening films as there is no cinema in the city.

“Mariam” film depicts story of three women living in different eras.

The famous Syrian actors and actresses: As’adFedda, NadinKhouri, Solaf Fawakherji, Abed Fahed, Sabah Jazaerli, Reem Ali, Dima Qandalaft, Mayson Abo As’aad and Lama al-Hakimplus the Lebanese actress Darin Hamzeh perform in the film.
