Saja Suleiman .. a female experience combining art, poetry and law

Al-Hasaka, (ST) – The plastic artist Saja Suleiman found in the expressive and abstract school of art a space for expressing her feelings, emotions and mental states, so she reconfigured her perception of the world around her by taking an interest in the content and the psychological depth of the human being.

Suleiman, who mastered drawing and law, did not find that art interferes with her educational attainment. According to her, art is linked to all walks of life, even her thesis for a professor’s degree was titled “The Art of Law”.

Suleiman considers heritage a continuity of civilization and synonymous with culture. For her, there is no human civilization without heritage, so she chose symbols from Hasaka governorate and from our history in general to be the main theme of her paintings as a means of defending the identity of the Syrian al-Jazeera against the terrorist attacks and the American aggression.

For Suleiman, poetry is the soul twin of art, the poem she writes is an artistic painting of multiple configurations and colors, and in her opinion, it is difficult to differentiate between  the creative worlds, despite the specificity of each of the arts.

Suleiman, who represented Syria in the Women’s Committee at the Arab Lawyers Conference, which was held in Tunisia, considered that her participation is a message stating the that Syrian women throughout the ages are equal to men, and they are present in the national, social, cultural and economic event,  they are creative in any field they work in without affecting their femininity, thus the Syrian woman remained a symbol of fertility and life.
