“Safe Home” activity aims at eliminating Violence against Women in Syria

Under the slogan “Safe Home”, the Syria Trust for Development in cooperation with The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the Faculty of Education launched The 16 Day campaign of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
 
The campaign which aims at supporting  women psychologically, legally and economically includes activities for awareness and consultation that are being held in 6 centers affiliated to The Trust and in the headquarters of 25 civil associations in 45 areas in Damascus and its countryside.
 
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is an annual international campaign that kicks off on the 25 th of November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 th December, Human Rights Day. It was started by activists at the inaugural Women’s Global Leadership Institute in 1991 and continues to be coordinated each year by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership. It is used as an organizing strategy by individuals and organizations around the world to call for the prevention and elimination of violence against women and girls.
