Sabbagh: The need to strengthen bilateral Syrian-Iraqi relations in various fields

On February 2nd, People’s Assembly Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh said that the Syrian and Iraqi peoples were always stronger than all the fierce terrorist attacks that the two countries were subjected to.

During his meeting with the Chargé d’Affairs at the Iraqi Embassy in Damascus Yassin Sharif Al-Hajimi, Sabbagh stressed  the importance of common brotherhood ties between the two peoples and the need to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields in order to achieve common interests.

Sabbagh called for increasing the volume of cooperation between Syria and Iraq, pointing to the need to move forward in bilateral coordination in relation to fighting terrorism.

For his part, Al-Hujaimi said that Iraq and Syria face one enemy, which is the terrorist organization “ISIS” supported by destructive parties trying to undermine the two countries and destroy the region.

Al-Hujaimi stressed the need to develop economic and trade relations between the two countries and to enhance cooperation through the joint Iraqi-Syrian committee.

The meeting was attended by a number of parliament members and the diplomatic mission at the Iraqi embassy in Damascus.
