Sabbagh: The Belfour Declaration’s repercussions have affected the whole Arab region

DAMASCUS, (ST)_The Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] Hammodah Sabbagh has declared that it is necessary to make a historical revision of the ill-famed Belfour Declaration with the aim of drawing lessons from its dangerous political, legal, social and economic impacts, including the humanitarian suffering of the Palestinian people.

The speaker said in a speech he gave -during the 14 session of the 3rd legislative term -on the occasion of the 104th  anniversary of the Belfour Declaration that the declaration affected the Arab region in general and Syria in particular.

“Syria’s commitment to firm principles and Pan-Arab stances and national issues, mainly the Palestinian cause, are  behind the wars which has been waged on Syria, and the unjust blockade that included all aspects of life,” Sabbagh added.

For their part, several members of parliament affirmed that Syria will never change its stances that reject all forms of occupation and support the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s struggle to restore all their legitimate rights, mainly their rights of return.
