Sabbagh: Syrian-Russian relations are solid and they are boosted by the blood of the martyrs

Damascus (ST): Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammoudah Sabbagh, stressed that Syrian Russian relations are deep-rooted and are boosted by the blood of the martyrs from the two sides in the fight against terrorism on the Syrian territories.

Meeting Dmitry Sablin, member of the Russian State Duma, Sabbagh referred to the importance of common issues between the two friendly peoples, hoping cooperation would increase in all fields, especially in the humanitarian field.

He added that the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in Syria is still within acceptable limits despite the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people that included respiratory devices and medicines required to deal with this pandemic.

Sabbagh underlined the importance of holding the International Conference on the Return of the refugees despite some hindrances set by some countries and their exploitation of the issue of the displaced Syrians due to terrorist war and its adoption as a political paper for compromise.

In turn, Sablin referred the historic relations of cooperation and friendship that link the two peoples, stressing the importance of the International Refugee Conference held in coordination between the two countries with the participation of 27 countries which aim to facilitate the return of the Syrians refugees who were displaced because of terrorism in Syria.

He said that Syrian- Russian relations are continuously developing, not only in the political field, but also in the economic field, noting that work is underway to construct new hospitals and health centres.
