Sabbagh receives a copy of the credentials of the South African Ambassador to Syria

Damascus (ST) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Bassam Sabbagh today received a copy of the credentials of Ambassador Ashraf Suleiman as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of South Africa to the Syrian Arab Republic.

Minister Sabbagh welcomed the new ambassador and congratulated him on his appointment as ambassador to Syria, and pointed to the strength of the historical relations between the two friendly countries and peoples.

He praised South Africa’s position in supporting the just causes of peoples, foremost of which is the Palestinian cause, which was recently demonstrated in South Africa’s position before the International Court of Justice to end the impunity of the Israeli entity for committing war crimes and crimes of genocide against the Palestinian people.

For his part, Ambassador Suleiman stressed his determination to work on enhancing cooperation between Syria and South Africa to include broader areas that serve the common interests of the two countries.
