Sabbagh meets with the Mediterranean Parliament delegation, stresses the need to strengthen joint parliamentary action

On July 16th, Speaker of the People’s Assembly Hamouda Sabbagh met with a delegation from the Mediterranean Parliament, headed by Mohamed Abul-Enein, Honorary Speaker of Parliament and Vice-President of the Egyptian Parliament.

Sabbagh stressed the importance of the role of the Mediterranean Parliament in converging views between parliaments, and contributing to conveying the true picture of what is happening in Syria to the rest of the world’s parliaments.

Sabbagh reviewed with the delegation the terrorist war that Syria had been exposed to during the past years, the aim of which was to divide Syria and control its capabilities, pointing out that the American occupier stole the wealth of the eastern region of Syria, and the Turkish occupation cut off drinking water for more than a million citizens in the province of Al-Hasakah.

For his part, Abul-Enein stressed the importance of conveying the truth about the suffering of the Syrian people from the effects of economic sanctions to the world through the Parliament of the Mediterranean, praising the will and steadfastness of the Syrian people who have contributed to preserving a united and strong Syria.

Abul-Enein gave an explanation of what the Arab Republic of Egypt faced in confronting terrorism and trying to control the capabilities of the Egyptian people, hailing the success of the Egyptian people in rallying around their leadership.

The delegation had met earlier today with the members of the two bureaus of the Parliament and the Committee on Arab, Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, where the head and members of the delegation stressed the importance of exchanging views and promoting joint parliamentary action.

The members of parliament called for more parliamentary efforts, and for seeking to lift the unfair sanctions imposed on the Syrian people to alleviate their suffering.
