Parliament Speaker Hamouda Sabbagh affirmed, during his meeting on Wednesday with the Algerian ambassador in Damascus Hassan Tohamy on the occasion of the end of his duties as ambassador of his country in Damascus, that Syria and Algeria have deeply rooted fraternal relations. He highly appreciated the Algerian leadership, government and people’s standing by Syria throughout the years of the terrorist war that was waged against the country.
During the meeting, Sabbagh pointed out that Algeria will always remain in the hearts and consciences of the Syrians, because it took a principled and decisive stance towards Syria despite all the pressures exerted on it, expressing his wishes to Ambassador Tohamy of success in his new duties, just as he succeeded in performing his duties as ambassador to his country in Syria.
For his part, Ambassador Tohamy affirmed that Syria represents the second homeland for the Algerian people, and that his country’s continuation of standing by Syria is natural, because it stands by truth and justice, indicating that Syria is the source of Arabism and the country of civilization, heritage, fraternity and history.
Ambassador Tohamy also expressed his confidence that the recovery of Syria and the restoration of a state of security and prosperity to it will reflect positively on all countries and peoples of the region.
