Sabbagh highlights strengthening cooperation between Syrian and Iraqi unions during the reconstruction phase

During his meeting on Wednesday with  head of the Iraqi and Arab Contractors Federation, Ali Fakher Al-Sanafi, and the accompanying delegation, Parliament Speaker Hammouda Sabbagh stressed the need to enhance cooperation between Syrian and Iraqi unions and organizations, especially in the phase of reconstruction of what was destroyed by terrorism. The two sides also underlined the urgency to harness efforts to advance  the two countries.

During the meeting, Sabbagh indicated that Syria attaches special importance and care to unions through developing its legislation and laws and providing support for work and workers. He noted that the priority to participate in the reconstruction phase will be for brothers and friends, pointing out that the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people that target all life aspects require concerted efforts to overcome its effects.

For his part, Al-Sanafi congratulated Syria on the victory of Dr. Bashar Al-Assad in the presidential elections, stressing the unity of the two countries and peoples.

Al-Sanafi confirmed that a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Iraqi Contractors Union and the Syrian one to exchange experiences and visits, establish companies between the two sides, adopt unified terms for classifying contractors and contracting companies, and adopt unified administrative, engineering and health regulations in order to facilitate the work of contractors.
