Sabbagh discusses with the representative of UNFPA developing cooperation in the interest of the Syrians
On February 6th, the Speaker of the People’s Assembly(parliament), Hammouda Sabbagh met with the representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Syria Dr. Iyad Nasr.
During the meeting, Sabbagh stressed the need to strengthen and develop cooperation between Syria and the Fund in light of the consequences of the unilateral economic measures imposed on the country and the terrorist war.
Sabbagh appreciated the role the Fund plays in many countries, including Syria.
For his part, Nasr said that work will be done to build real foundations and develop existing local Syrian capabilities.
On January 27th, Minister of Foreign Affairs and ExpatriatesDr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, received the credentials of Dr. Nasr, a resident representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Syria.
