Sabbagh, Chairman of the Asian Football Confederation discuss intensifying efforts to rehabilitate damaged sports facilities in Syria

The Speaker of the People’s Assembly, Hammouda Sabbagh, met today with the chairman of the Asian Football Confederation, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa, and the accompanying delegation at the Assembly’s building.

During the meeting, Sabbagh stressed the importance of intensifying the efforts of the Youth and Sports Committee in the People’s Assembly and the Syrian and Asian Football Federations, with regard to rehabilitating sports facilities that were damaged during the terrorist war on Syria.

The Assembly Speaker called for intensifying meetings between the committee, the concerned authorities, and the Syrian and Asian federations, in order to achieve benefit, exchange experiences, and raise the level of sports in Syria.

For his part, Sheikh Salman stressed the importance of sports in enabling and enhancing communication between peoples, indicating that the federation seeks to promote football in all Asian countries, including Syria.

Sheikh Salman pointed to the need to rehabilitate sports facilities in Syria in a way that enables them to return to hosting major championships and events, noting the participation of the Syrian sports teams in world events, and the important results achieved despite the difficult circumstances that Syria is going through.
