Ryabkov: Russia ready to discuss Trump’s proposals for a settlement in Ukraine, but not at the expense of Russian interests

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov expressed Russia’s readiness to discuss US President Donald Trump’s proposals for a settlement in Ukraine, warning that Moscow would resort to stronger military means if the West did not realize the impossibility of pressuring Russia.
Ryabkov said in statements reported by the RT website: Russia “has not yet received any clear initiatives from Trump and his team, and the Russian side will be present when the American counterparts come with their proposals, but not at the expense of the Russian national interests.”

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister pointed out that “there is no magic solution to the conflict in Ukraine, as there is a lack of common sense and self-control in the West, especially in the United States, where it seems that our commitment to defending our basic national interests is underestimated,” explaining at the same time that the chances of reaching a settlement in Ukraine at the present time are zero.
