Ryabkov: Moscow opposes accession to BRICS by some countries that imposed sanctions on Russia

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov affirmed his country’s rejection of the accession to BRICS by any new countries that participated in imposing sanctions on Russia.

According to RT website, Ryabkov said in an interview with reporters on the sidelines of the ministerial meeting of the BRICS countries, which is being held today in South Africa: “This meeting is very important and represents an added value to the work of the BRICS countries.”

Ryabkov described the news reported by Western media regarding the existence of a desire and intent to move the venue of the BRICS summit from South Africa to China as fake and said: “Most likely, this is an attempt to complicate the normal work in BRICS coordination, and an attempt to impose some kind of false agenda.”

The Russian Deputy Foreign Minister stressed that the BRICS countries are moving forward and proving their strength and importance, and this may be the center of gravity in the multipolar world.

Today, the ministerial meeting of the BRICS group of countries, which includes five countries, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, is being held in South Africa. The BRICS group was established in 2009.
