New York: Russia’s Permanent envoy to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has announced that Washington hindered the issuance of a UN Security Council Resolution regarding confronting the Corona virus pandemic because of the mentioning of the World Health Organization in it.
Interviewed by Russian TV Channel 1, Nebenzya said “We agreed about the resolution three weeks ago, and it was about to be endorsed, but the Americans objected to the mention of WHO or any reference to it in the resolution”.
He went on to say that consultation were still continuous about the resolution which was proposed by France and Tunisia two months ago.
US President Donald Trump had announced that he ordered suspension of the US financial contribution to WHO because of what he called WHO’s mismanagement of Corona virus pandemic. Trump’s accusations against WHO came to cover the severe criticism directed to him and his administration because of the catastrophic mistakes committed by them in dealing with the crisis as the US came first with regards the number of deaths and infections with the fatal virus.
