Moscow – Russian strategic bombers carried out airstrikes on ISIS sites in al-Boukamal city in Deir Ezzor.
Russian Defense ministry said in a statement that “Six Tu-22M3 long-range bombers that have taken off from the Russian territory, have flown over Iran and Iraq and delivered a massive air strike against terrorists’ facilities near the town of al-BouKamal in the province of Deir Ezzor,” SANA reported.
The ministry added that Russian reconnaissance means have confirmed the destruction of terrorists’ fortified areas, arms and ammunition depots.
It noted that Su-30SM fighters, which had taken off from the Hmeimim airbase in Syria, provided air cover for the bombers and that the Russian aircrafts safely returned to their home bases after the mission.
