Russian Space Agency switches to Ruble in its dealings with other countries

Head of the “Roscosmos”  Russian Space Agency, Dmitry Rogozin, announced that the agency will sign its next contracts with foreign countries in the country’s national currency, the Ruble.

Russia Today quoted Rogozin as saying: “Since this thing started all over the country, we too will now sign all foreign contracts in rubles.”

Rogozin noted that on February 24, a meeting was held with the financial and economic bloc and representatives of the Ministry of Finance, during which the issue of foreign exchange obtained by the state institution under contracts with other countries was discussed, including the supply of engines and other products.

On Wednesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the conversion of gas supplies to Europe into the ruble, stressing that his country will continue to provide these supplies in accordance with previously signed contracts in terms of quantity and price because it maintains its reputation.

On the other hand, Rogozin announced that Russia will launch a number of new-generation Glonass navigation satellites in 2022 which are more powerful devices.

Regarding Russia’s exclusion from the US GPS system, Rogozin said that we had information that the United States was considering such sanctions, but I would like to say that this is a technically difficult matter, adding that Russia is not afraid of sanctions with regard to navigation systems.

Rogozin pointed out that the group of GPS satellites in orbit cannot selectively stop work in Russia without stopping work on other continents and countries.
