Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov confirmed that Moscow will deploy nuclear weapons near Finland after Finland joins NATO.
Russia Today quoted Pushkov as writing wrote on his Telegram page: “The Finnish government has set a course of almost complete severance of relations with Russia, the withdrawal of all Finnish companies from the Russian market, and their full integration into NATO, which will allow the deployment of military bases and even nuclear weapons on its territory,” adding, “ Helsinki does not take into account the economic losses that will appear after the severance of good-neighborly relations with Moscow.”
The Russian senator also warned that a change in Finland’s political approach would lead to a deterioration in the security situation and a decrease in the country’s financial welfare.
On May 18, Sweden and Finland announced the possibility of joining NATO due to the Russian special military operation in Ukraine.
