Russian Security Dismantles Network Funding “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” Terrorists

The press office of the Russian Federal Security Service in the Khabarovsk region announced the dismantling of a network acting to finance the so-called “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” terrorist group.

Russia Today website quoted the Security Information Office as saying in a statement that “the network includes five citizens of a Central Asian country residing in the city of Khabarovsk and has financed terrorists and collected funds for them.”
The Office confirmed that criminal cases have been started against those arrested on charges of aiding in terrorist activity and not informing the authorities, adding that the Khabarovsk District Court convicted the detainees and sentenced them to imprisonment and fines.
In June 2020, the Russian Supreme Court declared the so-called “Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham” a terrorist organization, stressing that it is directly linked to the terrorist organization “Al-Nusra Front” previously banned in the country.
