Russian politician: U.S. occupation of parts of Syrian territory is a criminal act

MOSCOW, SEP.14, (ST)- Director General of the Political News Center in Russia, Alexei Mukhin, called for  criminalizing the United States for its unilateral, illegal, coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people,  stressing that the American occupation of parts of Syrian territory is a criminal act aimed at plundering the wealth of the Syrian people.

Speaking to the  correspondent of the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) in Moscow, Mukhin said :“The American military presence in Syria is considered a direct, illegal occupation and a criminal act aims at stealing and plundering the wealth of the Syrian people, and therefore it is a prohibited crime according to the outcomes of international law and the UN Charter.”

The politician added that the U.S. military presence is linked to the presence of the ISIS terrorist organization  in Syrian territory, stressing that there is no justification for this occupation other than the plundering and theft of Syrian natural resources, which requires the intervention of international legal bodies to put an end to this occupation and end it.

Mukhin denounced the U.S. continued imposition of its unilateral coercive measures and economic sanctions on the Syrian people, indicating that any sanctions that have not gained a final status in the UN Security Council are illegitimate.

He stressed that the American sanctions reflect the aggressive will of the American state towards international civil society, calling for their abolition, compensation for the losses that resulted from them, and the criminalization of the United States, which uses the method of sanctions to expand its hegemony in the world.
