Russian plane loaded with humanitarian assistance arrives in Lattakia Airport

Today, a Russian relief aid plane arrived at Latakia airport carrying relief items from the Syrian Embassy in Moscow to support those affected by the earthquake that struck Syria on February 6.

The director of Lattakia Airport, Eng. Ziyad Al-Taweel, said in a statement to the SANA correspondent that the plane was loaded with about 20 tons of relief, humanitarian and food assistance, noting that it was the 119th plane that arrived at Lattakia airport since the earliest days of the earthquake disaster, and the 11th plane coming from Russia.

Lattakia Executive Office Member, Eng. Samer Khaskiyeh noted that 9 Russian planes are expected to arrive in the coming days, loaded with relief materials, provided by members of the Syrian community residing in Russia, noting the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and the Syrian and Russian peoples, which have had the greatest impact in supporting the people and standing by them in their plight during the past years of war.

Khaskiyeh added that the cargo would be unloaded and sent to the provincial operating room to be packed and sent to the people affected by the earthquake.
