Russian MPs: Idleb shouldn’t be allowed to remain a terrorist hotbed

MOSCOW, (ST)-  Chairman of the Russian State Duma’s Foreign Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky has stressed that Idlib shouldn’t be allowed to remain a hotbed for terrorists.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Moscow, Slutsky said that the situation in the de-escalation zone in Idleb is still complicated and that there is no escape for the terrorists in this area whose liberation is one of Russia’s priorities in Syria.

He also said that “we, and the Syrian colleagues still have much work to do, especially in Idlib, so the process is heading, though slowly, towards its inevitable, positive ends.”

On his part, Member of the state Duma Alexander Fokin said that the American and Turkish presence in Syria is illegal, stressing that these issues will be solved soon and peace will surely prevail in the Syrian land.

“we hope that Idleb issue will be solved by the coming year because it is a very important  security and humanitarian issue,” he said.
