Russian MoD: Terrorist groups prepare for a drone attack on civilians in Syria’s Idilb

The Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria has announced that terrorist groups are preparing for a drone attack on civilians in Syria’s Idlib to accuse both Damascus and Russia.

“The Russian Center for the Reconciliation has received new information about the plans of terrorist groups to accuse the Syrian government forces and the Russian Aerospace Forces of carrying out artillery and airstrikes on populated areas under the control of illegal armed groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone,”  the deputy chief of the Russian center for the reconciliation of conflicting parties in Syria, Rear Adm. Alexander Grinkevich said.

He made it clear that the militants seek to launch a drone attack on civilian objects in the area of the Nahleyeh settlement in Syria and then publish a video accusing both Damascus and Russia.

“The militants intend to post a video recording of the consequences of the staged strike on their propaganda Internet resources with accusations against the Syrian government forces and the Russian Aerospace Forces,” Grinkevich said.

He went on to say: “The reconciliation center “is urging the field commanders of illegal armed groups to give up armed provocations and embark on the track of peace settlement in the areas under their control.”

This is not the first time that the Russian military has revealed plans by terrorist groups to stage an attack intended to accuse the Syrian government of using drones or chemical substances.

In October, the Russian Reconciliation center announced that on October 11  “in the area of the village of Maarrat al-Ikhwan [13 kilometers North of the city of Idlib], a warehouse with ammunition and chlorine-containing substances, which was prepared by terrorists for chemical provocations, was blown up”.
