Russian MoD: Al-Nusra terrorists are plotting terrorist attacks in Syria

On August 3rd, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that the terrorist organizations deployed in Idlib and its countryside, in the northern countryside of Aleppo and in Lattakia are preparing to carry out terrorist attacks targeting the positions of the Syrian army and the Russian forces operating in Syria.

The deputy head of the Russian Coordination Center in Hmeimim, Rear Admiral Vadim Kulit, said in a press statement: “There is information indicating that the “Al-Nusra Front” terrorist organization, which is included in the international terrorist list, is actively working to prepare suicide terrorists, whose mission is to carry out terrorist attacks against the targets and patrols of the Russian army and the Syrian army.”

He pointed out that the Russian forces will take the most decisive and harsh measures against these terrorists who plan to launch attacks on the Russian and Syrian armies.

In a related context, Kulit said that the US-led coalition’s fighter jets and drones violated Syria’s airspace in the al-Tanf area 14 times during the past day,

“The number of violations of Syria’s airspace in the al-Tanf area, across which international air routes run, are growing. Thus, during the day, 14 such violations by one pair of the coalition’s F-16 and five pairs of F-35 fighter jets, as well as by two MQ-1C multi-role unmanned aerial vehicles were reported,” he said.

According to Kulit, the coalition’s aircraft continue creating dangerous situations in the sky over Syria, violating deconfliction protocols. “Thirteen violations of the deconfliction protocols of December 9, 2019 linked with the flights by the coalition drones were reported in Syria in the past 24 hours,” he said.

Russia has been participating in the war on terrorism on the side of the Syrian Arab Army since September 2015 at the request of the Syrian state.
