A Russian delegation from the Nizhny Novgorod regional district in the Russian Federation was briefed on the health situation of Tishreen University Hospital, and the progress of eye surgeries that are performed by a Russian medical staff in cooperation with Syrian doctors.
The deputy governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, Peter Vitalievich Pannikov, told reporters that a medical education center was opened in the hospital several months ago, and the Syrian ophthalmologists were dispatched for training in Russia and today, these efforts are culminated by conducting qualitative eye surgeries by Russisn ophthalmologists and Russian tools particularly as Nizhny Novgorod Province provides all accessories, materials and medical devices with the latest technology.
In turn, the commercial director of the “Nijgorodskaya Oblastnaya Pharmaceutical” institution Dmitry Medvedev stated that the institution has provided Tishreen University Hospital with the Russian medical staff from the “Fyodorov” medical center, in addition to lenses, surgical sutures, and all surgical accessories and equipment that doctors use in treating patients, adding: The institution is always ready to receive Syrian doctors, hold training courses for them and work with them in order to enhance their expertise.
In turn, Dr. Mahmoud Ragab, Head of the Department of Ophthalmology and Surgery at Tishreen University Hospital, explained that the delegation has performed seven complex surgeries that required expertise and modern equipment, pointing out that the surgeries are continuing and patients in need of treatment outside the country will be followed up, as the medical staff has expressed their willingness to receive patients and treat them at their own expense.
