Russian journalist: Countries criticizing presidential elections in Syria are basically against stability in the country

Senior Russian journalist Roman Berevizyntsev has stressed that the countries, which want security and stability to return to Syria and the process of reconstruction to start in the country, support the upcoming Presidential elections in Syria and highly value the Syrian government’s efforts to organize these elections on their due time.

In a statement to SANA correspondent in Moscow, the Russian journalist said that “the countries that criticize holding the presidential elections in Syria are basically against settlement and stability in the country. They expose their own negative position towards the option of the Syrian people who are going to decide who will lead their country in the years to come.”

He pointed out that the Syrians’ decision will identify the path in which Syria will proceed and will have positive impact on the return of the refugees and the country’s prosperity.

The Russian journalist made it clear that the elections are held within difficult circumstances as the Syrian people is still fighting terrorism and suffering from blockade and unilateral economic sanctions.
