Russian Izvestia: Damascus International Fair will Establish a New Phase of Economic Cooperation Between Russia and Syria

 MOSCOW – The 60th session of the Damascus International Fair, is one of the biggest events in the Middle East region and will constitute a new phase in economic cooperation between Russia and Syria and the event will witness signing significant bilateral agreements between the countries, the Russian newspaper “Izvestia” stressed.

 In its issue on Wednesday, Izvestia published an article entitled “Exhibition of Available Opportunities”, in which the newspaper explained that the Russian pavilion at the exhibition this year will occupy an area of more than 500 square meters and will include a forum for Syrian and Russian businessmen including a plenary session on ” Syrian- Russian Commercial and Industrial Dialogue on topics such as agriculture, trade, industry, energy, infrastructure reconstruction, transport, communications and others.

  According to the press office of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Russian delegation will include representatives of government agencies as well as companies from developed industrial cities and regions such as Moscow, Petersburg, Rostov-on-Don, Nizhny Novgorod, Ijevsk and Chelyabinsk, Izvestia said.

 The newspaper pointed out that important agreements will be signed between the Syrian and Russian sides to implement a number of joint projects that have been studied in advance and will have a significant impact on the level of Russian-Syrian economic cooperation. In the framework of the Industrial Action Committee, the signing of a joint road map on industrial cooperation for years from 2018 to 2020, as well as the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Syrian Ministry of Industry.

 For their part, the representatives of the Russian-Arab Businessmen Council said in a statement to the newspaper that large figures in the Russian industry are interested in the Damascus International Fair where the Russian pavilion will include exhibits for the products of institutions and major companies such as the MAZ Inti, Biocad, Zarobeg Geology and Russ Telemach, as well as the group of “Ural Varghon Zaphod companies.”

 “The exhibition will be one of the steps to promote the railway products manufactured by the group and its entry into the Syrian market. A wide range of road construction equipment, bulldozers, armored cranes and modern energy-saving systems will be offered using solar batteries.This allows to be set up in Syria enlightenment and management system in power supply enterprises and cities to respond to the latest modern requirements,” a spokesman for Ural Empty Zaphod said.

 Izvestia noted that the first session of the Damascus international fair was held in 1954 and then some 150 thousand persons visited the fair. The fair was stopped from the year 2012 to 2016 because of the crisis in Syria. It was reopened last year and more than two million people visited the fair representing 43 countries from all over the world.
