Russian intelligence: Washington and Western countries provide support to terrorist organizations in Syria

Moscow (ST): Head of the Main Department of the Russian General Staff Igor Kostyukov stressed that Washington and Western countries provide support to terrorist organizations in Syria and continue to loot the wealth and resources of its lands.

Russia Today website quoted Kostyukov, head of the service, formerly known as the “Russian Main Intelligence Department”, as saying during his participation in the Moscow International Security Conference today: “The United States is training elements of the Syrian opposition and the terrorist organization (ISIS) to carry out terrorist attacks in Syria.” He added, “Western intelligence, through non-governmental organizations under its control, provides support to extremist groups in Syria.”

Kostyukov said: “With the participation of American companies, 220,000 barrels of oil are produced per day in Syria, which the United States plunders.”

He explained that “these facts indicate that what the international coalition to combat terrorism is doing in Syria and Iraq is largely nothing more than statements.”

Kostyukov pointed out that the Syrian Arab Army “inflicted heavy losses on the terrorists with the help of the Russian army.”

Kostyukov indicated that the United States triggered internal disturbances in the Middle East and Africa through the so-called (colorful  revolutions).
