Russian Foreign Ministry: Kazakhstan was exposed to an aggression by international terrorism gangs

Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov has affirmed that events in Kazakhstan have proved that the country was exposed to an aggression by “international terrorism gangs that received special training aboard”.

Sputnik news agency quoted Syromolotov as saying on Wednesday that “according to law enforcement agencies in Kazakhstan, people of foreign origin, as well as gunmen who gained experience in foreign countries and hot spots were among the militants who participated in the attacks in this country.”

He added that Kazakhstan faced an unprecedented challenge to its entity, security and sovereignty.

Syromolotov went on to say that the forces that sought to seize power by violence needed to destabilize the internal political situation in Kazakhstan, pointing out that the gangs have launched a hybrid terrorist attack aimed at carrying out a coup.

He clarified that it is too early to talk about who was the mastermind.

On her part, Spokeswoman of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Wednesday that Russia has detected the involvement of extremist forces in Kazakhstan events, but it is the investigation that must determine who are the external parties behind organizing the unrest in the country
