Russian Foreign Ministry Condemns Explosions In China’s Urumqi

The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned Thursday’s terrorist attack in the Chinese city of Urumqi and has extended condolences to the families and friends of its victims. “We resolutely condemn this bloody crime. The Russian side is sincerely interested in further enhancing Russian-Chinese cooperation in the fight against all forms of terrorism and extremism. We offer our profound condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wish a speedy recovery to those injured,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said on Thursday.

“Russia was shocked by the barbaric terrorist act that occurred in the city of Urumqi, entailing a considerable death toll,” he said. Moscow hopes that those who masterminded and staged the explosions in Urumqi will be detained and brought to justice.

Putin offers condolences over China terrorist attack that killed 31

Russian President Vladimir Putin has extended his condolences to Chinese leader Xi Jinping over the deadly terrorist attack in the city of Urumqi, the Kremlin press service reported on Thursday. “In his condolence message, the Russian head of state resolutely condemned this bloody crime and expressed confidence that its perpetrators and organizations will be found and will be given the punishment they deserve,” the press service said.

“As a follow-up to the negotiations in Shanghai, the president of Russia reaffirmed his interest in further bolstering Russian-Chinese cooperation in the fight against all forms of terrorism and extremism,” it said.

“Putin also offered his condolences to the victims’ families and friends and wished a speedy recovery to those injured,” it said.

Blast hits China’s western city Xinjiang: 31 killed, over 90 injured

A blast in the capital of China’s western region of Xinjiang killed 31 people, with around 90 others injured, state broadcaster China Central Television reported on Thursday. The blast took place when two vehicles

rammed into a crowd at a morning market in Urumqi. Explosives were hurled from the vehicles and one of the vehicles exploded.

China’s domestic security chief has labelled the incident an act of violent terrorism. China has blamed a string of violent attacks in recent months on militant separatists from Xinjiang.

Two off-road vehicles drove into people at the market in the regional capital Urumqi, with one of them exploding, Xinhua said, the latest apparent violent incident in the far western region.
