On the occasion of the Russian Flag Day, youth and cultural activities participated today in the ceremony of raising the Russian flag at the Umayyad Square in Damascus.
The celebration, organized today by the representative office of the Federal Agency for International Humanitarian Cooperation, in cooperation with the Russian Coordination Center, included several activities during which the Syrian and Russian flags were raised and the anthems of the two countries were played.
The participants affirmed their solidarity and standing by Russia, which supported Syria in its war against terrorism, noting that raising the flag on this occasion is a message of love and thanks to the Russian people for their supportive stances.
In a statement to SANA News Agency reporter, Ilya Kokharev, Deputy Director of the Russian Cultural Center, affirmed the continuation of work on implementing projects in various fields that enhance Syrian-Russian relations and elevate them to a new level, pointing to the importance of the participation of the Syrians in this occasion that Russia celebrates.
On her part, the cultural relations official at the center Aya Shehadeh stated that the Syrian-Russian relations are solid and stable, as they are manifested in the positions of the two countries and peoples, noting that this celebration is an expression of the depth of the established relations between them.
Ahmad al-Kurdi, Secretary of the Fourth City Division of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, pointed out that the participation is an affirmation of strengthening the relationship between the two countries, and a message of thanks for the stance of the Russian government and people towards Syria.
Alaa Ali, Secretary of the Damascus Branch of the Revolutionary Youth Union, pointed out that the participation of the Syrian youth in the celebration is a token of love for the friendly Russian people, who stood in solidarity with the the Syrians and supported them during the years of the terrorist war.
In addition to this celebration, yesterday , as part of the activities of the Russian Flag Day, the building of Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts in Damascus was lit up in the evening with the colors of the Russian flag, in which the white color symbolizes nobility and frankness, the blue color symbolizes loyalty and chastity, while the red color symbolizes courage.
