Russian Embassy: Washington’s attempt to recruit Russian citizens is evidence of its hostile approach
The Russian Embassy in Washington announced that the US Central Intelligence Agency’s announcement that it is seeking cooperation with Russian citizens who oppose the military operation in Ukraine is evidence of Washington’s hostile approach.
This announcement came in response to a Wall Street Journal report that included statements by Deputy Director of the Central Intelligence Agency David Marlowe that the agency is looking for Russian citizens who oppose the military operation in Ukraine in order to cooperate with them.
The Russian embassy said on its Telegram channel: The American official publicly admitted that the intelligence agency is looking for potential agents among the Russians around the world, and therefore we had no illusions about the CIA’s anti-Russian activity. This is a well-known fact that the American intelligence is trying to destabilize Russia and interfere in internal affairs.
The embassy added: Marlowe’s statements confirm Washington’s hostile approach aimed at weakening Russia through subversive methods, and this means that the Ukrainian crisis was provoked by the American ruling circles with the aim of inflicting a strategic defeat on Russia, as stated in the new American national security strategy.
