Russian DM: Two drones launched by terrorists on Hmeimim downed

Lattakia, (ST): The Russian Ministry of Defence has announced that the air defences at Hmeimem base downed two drones launched by the terrorist organizations stationed in Idleb.

Head of Hmeimim-base Russian Coordination Center Major-General Yuri Borenkov said in a statement that the air defenses at Hmeimim base tracked two drones launched from the de-escalation zone in the Syrian city of Idleb where terrorists are stationed.

Borenkov added that the first attack from the northeastern direction was repelled at a distance of two kilometers from the airbase. An aerial target approaching the base from the northwestern direction in the second attack was downed at a distance of six kilometers of, from the base.

The Russian Centre affirmed that no human or material casualties were reported.

Throughout the last few months, the air defenses have deterred tens of attempts by the terrorist groups to attack Hmeimim base in Lattakia through drones that carry bombs which have been launched from terrorist strongholds in the de-escalation zone in Idleb countryside.
